BART EYKING – ARCHITECT, INTERIOR AND FURNITURE DESIGNER

EYKING combines Bart’s gift to create unique interiors with his passion for art and antiques. In order to ensure a high quality finish EYKING offers a professional Design & Build service. Using his vast building experience to take on refurbishments, extensions and new build. And this time it’s the architect in the driving seat, stimulating craftsmanship and with a keen attention to detail in order to make sure each project, small and large, is perfectly executed.

Together with Patrick de Louwere Bart won the coveted European ‘Europan 5’ competition for young architects in 1999, followed by the first prize in the ‘Royal Institute of Dutch Architects’ competition of 2001. In 2004 Patrick and Bart decide to take the plunge and found their own office for architecture and interior design in Rotterdam: eijkingdelouwere. Quickly making their mark as the to-go-to address for office design. In 2006 they win 2 ‘Best of Year Awards’ including Best Large Office Design by US Interior Design Magazine for the design of SRK Law in The Hague. Subsequently establishing their furniture brand Studio Lawrence in 2007, following the international success of their interiors. Their play with varying tactile surfaces and depths, sequences and composition create dynamic pieces that continue to appeal to international tastemakers, resulting in a Good Design Award for their Along These Lines felt wallhangings in 2010, the prestigious 40 under 40 Award by the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Centre of Architecture for best European architects and designers in 2010 and 2 Interior Innovation Awards by IMM Cologne for their To Gather sofa’s and Raising Lanterns.

A move to London in 2010 resulted in the establishment of Bart’s own architecture and interior design office in 2014 simply called EYKING. Originally from Amsterdam, Bart qualified as an architect in 1996 and holds two, Architecture and Urban Design, Msc (Hons) degrees of the Delft Technical University in the Netherlands.
